Identifying the need for teen therapy involves recognizing signs that indicate a teen may be struggling emotionally or mentally. Some key indicators may include excessive worry, extreme mood swings, avoiding friends or family, not participating in activities that were previously enjoyable, increased behavior issues at home or school, sudden drop in grades, engaging in risky behaviors and changes in sleep or eating habits are some, but not all, inclusive in examples of shifts in behaviors.
Some key benefits to therapy in targeting these behaviors are learning coping skills, assisting in more effective communication with family and friends, non-judgmental support, learning techniques for conflict resolution, addressing underlying issues, and helping develop a greater sense of self-worth.
